tears, cheers and booby-traps

I know, what a combination, right?  This was a BIG week for my twins, the first week of kindergarten… enter the tears and the cheers!  Day one, M. was asking to stay home just one more day and couldn’t believe that he had to go back the next day.  A. declared that if M. was going to cry, he was going to cry.  So, we had tears and lots of them.  As sad as it was to leave them that first morning though, I knew they were in the very best hands.  We’ve been blessed with the most warmest and kindest kindergarten teacher.  It’s day four of school and we absolutely love her!!  I wasn’t sure what to expect picking them up that first day, but they couldn’t have been happier!  They loved it (that’s the cheers part).  YAY!  We’ve had more tears the following mornings, but it’s definitely getting easier for them and they are all smiles each afternoon!

Not many images from this week.  It was definitely more important to put the camera away and just give lots of hugs!!  The shots I did get, I do love though.

So, then enter the booby-traps.  Last week before I left for New England, A. and I opened one of the bathroom doors in our house to find my bathrobe belt strung across the bathroom.  One end was tied to the back of the doorknob and the other end was tied to a hand towel holder.  We laughed and attempted to do the limbo under it.  We called M. to the bathroom, joking with him that someone must have snuck into our home and set up a booby-trap.  Laughing, he asked us what happened to us when we opened the door and was completely disappointed when we told him, “nothing.”  We asked him what was suppose to happen to us and he said, “you were suppose to trip and do a front flip across the room.”  I am so glad that didn’t happen, I much rather do the limbo!!

Oh I just love my trips to the laundromat!  They’re always so much fun!  So, I thought I’d share a few images of the super adorable I. and N. from one of my recent trips.  I really need to remember to bring my dirty laundry with me the next time I’m there–I could be working and getting my laundry done at the same time.  Talk about multi-tasking!  Ha!

And, on a travel note, I will be traveling to New England today!  I will be meeting and working with some wonderful families over the next three days!  I can’t wait!!  I will have very limited access to the technology world, so emails and phone calls will be returned starting on the 24th (Monday).  I will be announcing my holiday schedule next week as well!

Okay, now back to the laundromat…

thursday’s thoughts: confessions from a mom of twins

Yes, that mom is me!  With summer coming to an end and kindergarten fast approaching (how can that be??), I thought I’d share a little bit about these boys of mine.

Confession #1: When the mood strikes them, my boys love to help in the kitchen.  This week they’ve  been all about using oven mitts to help take things out of the oven.  So, we had just removed something from the oven, they’ve got their mitts on and I turn my back to grab a few things out of the fridge and I hear, “come on” from one of them and, “you want a piece of me” from the other one.  I turn and they’re boxing.  It’s not quite George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali (thank goodness), but it’s definitely boxing.  So, in our house oven mitts double as boxing gloves!

Confession #2: Recently my boys were on the couch while I was in the kitchen putting away dishes. I’m not sure how it happened because it doesn’t take much, but before I know it they’re wrestling on the couch.  So, I say, “okay, guys, let’s keep our hands and feet to ourselves.”  They totally ignored me and rolled right off the couch onto the floor, still wrestling.  So, I say, “boys, that’s enough.”  Still wrestling and still ignoring me, it starts to escalate.  So, I say, “HEY BOYS! that’s enough!!”  Ignore, ignore, ignore.  In a total mom move from out of no where, I grabbed a pot and a pan and banged them together to get their attention and guess what, it totally worked.  Now, if I would have seen a mom do that prior to my motherhood, I would have totally said to myself, “that will so never be me!”  Ha!  Well, that’s me, the mom who has to occasionally bang a pot and a pan together to get her boys’ attention!  Hmmm, I think I might have that made into a bumper sticker!!

Okay, one last thing to share…  a conversation between brothers (yesterday in the car)…

M. talking to A.:  Are we happy that we’re  brothers?

A. talking to M.:  If mommy and daddy weren’t around and we were in the woods and I passed out, who would carry me out (pointing to M.)?  So course we’re happy to be brothers.

I couldn’t help but to laugh!!

And since a post would be oh-so-boring without images, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite images of the boys this summer.

A few from earlier this summer…

081309_05A. decided to take a little nap, well, not really, but he loved laying in the middle of the fountains while M. ran around him!

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!!

a change of pace • tampa senior photographer

I thought I’d take a break from the regularly scheduled program of adorable babies and kiddos to share a sneak peek of the beautiful C.  I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her since she was 6 or 7 and as much as I’d love to still think of her as that age, she’s now 16 and as beautiful as ever!  I truly enjoyed our session together–we laughed and laughed.  Oh how I love her laugh–it’s totally contagious and she has the warmest smile.  Well, you can see for yourself…

I just adore this family and I love that every time that we get together I have the pleasure of meeting more of the family.  Our last session together was to celebrate little A.’s Grandma and our session last weekend was to celebrate A.’s Papa.  I can truly say that she is blessed with such wonderful grandparents and parents too!!

One of the many blessings of my job is watching children grow…  I watched the sweet and adorable A. go from being swaddled in a blanket to sitting up to crawling and now standing so big and strong.  She is such a little beauty so full of love and joy!  I’m looking forward to our next time together, until then, enjoy this little sneak peek…

have you hugged your sandbox threads “t” today?

If not, you totally should!  I am a huge fan of Sandbox Threads and I was thrilled when I recently heard from Andy, dad/owner of SBT.  He happened to see my Earth Day post with my twins in their sandbox threads’ shirts.  I told him that I’d plan a little Sandbox Threads mini session with a client of mine, who I knew was a huge fan too!  What a fun morning with the super sweet and total heartbreaker C. and his beautiful mommy!  And, when I say she’s a fan of SBT, I’m not kidding… she pulled out 7 shirts (a girl after my own heart)!!  When shirts are this cute, totally affordable and wash and wear so well, you want to stock up!!  C. didn’t mind the wardrobe changes one bit either, it became a fun game for us all!  Ha!!

I thought I’d share a few favorites from our mini session together.  To view more Sandbox Threads designs and shop their site, please visit them at: http://www.sandboxthreads.com/ and Mom’s and Dad’s, be sure to check out their adult shirts as well at: http://www.sandboxthreads.com/bigkids.html

This image makes me smile!  I just love C’s expression and what makes it even funnier is that he’s wearing his Rocky “T” and it’s as if he’s quoting from the movie, “Yo, Adrian!!”  Can’t you just hear the theme song playing… dunt, dunt, da, dunt-dunt da, dunt dunt da, dant dunt, da dunt da-da, da-da, da-dadda-da, da-da??

c_sandbox_threads_05

And, this is how our session ended.  No “t’s” for C.  A sippy cup full of milk in one hand and his favorite little owl buddy in the other.  This is the life…
