a little sneak peek

… of the cutest little guy!  I fell in love with him just as soon as I saw his sweet little cheeks and itty bitty toes.  What a sweetie he is and so snuggly too.  I just had to soak in all the newness. *sigh*

a sunday drive… • atlanta family photographer

…to Georgia.  My hubby and the twins were recently at IKEA, when they called with a challenge.  If I could get us packed by the time they got home, we’d head to Georgia to surprise our friends. And, just like that, we were on the road.  What a fun little adventure we had!!  It was short, but oh so very sweet and we totally surprised our friends!!  I thought I’d share a few of my favorite images from our trip.  First up, our favorite G. family…

And, sweet little M.  I just adore him!!  It’s been a year since I’ve last seen M.  I can’t get over how much he’s grown.  Be prepared, he’ll melt your heart in two seconds flat…

carolyn+charlie • tampa engagement photographer

A little change of pace from itty bitty newborns and little kiddos…

Carolyn and Charlie are engaged to be married–wedding bells will be ringing in the fall of 2010!  Carolyn is going to make such a beautiful bride and Charlie, I’m sure, will keep everyone laughing!  I had such fun with them making our way through downtown.  They were such troopers too–I managed to lead them on a hike through sand spurs and then through a field of wasps.  Thankfully, we ended the session unarmed!  What an honor it was to share an evening with such a wonderful couple…

my mudder

All day today I was wished a “Happy Mudder’s Day” by my M.  It made him laugh, it made me laugh, so he went with it.  It’s hard to believe that just five short years ago I became a mommy.  I remember that day like it was yesterday.

I took a few minutes tonight before bedtime to ask my boys some questions about me.  It’s a little interview I’ve seen posted on a few fellow photographer’s blogs and on facebook and I couldn’t wait to hear M. & A.’s responses–oh, they made me laugh so hard!  If you haven’t done this with your kiddos yet, I encourage you to do it soon and write it down.  Keep it their baby books, scrapbooks or memory boxes–this is something you will treasure for years to come.

My A.

My nutty M. (sportin’ his harry potter glasses, which are actually 3-D glasses and his super rad jean sweat band)

m

So, instead of having each of them sit in a secret sound chamber (lol) as to not hear each others responses and have them both answer all of the questions, I decided to let them take turns with the questions.  Here goes…

1. How would you describe Mommy?
M:  she has the greenest eyes. (especially today, I was wearing a green headband)

2. What makes me happy?
A:  when we have fun together.

3. What makes me sad?
M:  when I don’t spend time with you.

4. What is something I always say to you?
A:  calm down.  (lol)

5. What makes me laugh?
M:  when I do this…  (he starts blinking repeatedly at warp speed… it’s hilarious and it always makes me laugh)

6. How old am I?
A:  33.  (I had to remind him that I’m still 32, okay, but not for long)

7. How tall am I?
M:  50 inches. (A. chimed in, “one mile.”)

8. What is my favorite thing to do?
A:  have fun.

9. What do you think I do when you’re not around?
M:  go on photo shoots.

10. If I became famous one day, what do you think it would be for?
A:  for drawing nice pictures.  (I love that he loves my drawings, but honestly, my stick figures are pretty sad, it’s his daddy that will one day be famous for his drawings!!)

11. What am I really good at?
M:  taking pictures.

12. What am I not so good at?
A:  reading the newspaper.  (that made me laugh, looks like I need to make some time for reading the news)

13. What is my job?
M:  feet-tographer.  (everyone is cracking up… and I guess he’s not too far off since I love taking pictures of feet)

14. What is my favorite food?
A:  salad.  (M. chimes in with, “I would say pizza if I were you.”–they are both right, I’d eat salad and pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could!)

15. What do I do that makes you proud?
M:  when you clean up our playroom.  (nice try M.)

16. If I were a cartoon character, who would I be? Why?
A:  Wall-E.  because he’s funny and you’re funny.

17. What do you love to do with me?
M:  going to the pool.

18. How are you and I the same?
A:  we eat the same kinds of ice cream.

19. How are you and I different?
M:  you like bunny grahams and I don’t like bunny grahams.

20. How do you know I love you?
A:  because you hug me a lot.  (I can’t get enough of those squeezy hugs too!)

21. What do you think I like most about Daddy?
M:  when he’s so sweet to you.

22. Where is my favorite place to go?
A:  your favorite little alley.  (okay, that doesn’t sound so great, but I do have this favorite little alley in downtown and whenever we are down there, I take the boys to it.)

23. What’s your favorite thing about me?
M:  your eyes are the prettiest.  (sigh, my heart melts)

24. If you could change one thing about me, what would you change?
A:  I would change your hair to orange and call you mommy weasley.  (lol!!  what a silly kiddo, who happens to be going through a harry potter phase right now.)

25. Do you know how much I love you?
M:  um, thiiiiiisssss much *thud* (falls to the ground and tries to do the splits)

Oh, they just melt me to mush.  I feel so incredibly blessed to be their mommy.  *sigh*

the amazing women in my life

I feel so incredibly blessed to have one of the most amazing moms and grandmas on earth (okay, I am partial, but they are pretty awesome).  Their hearts are like gold and they have the patience of saints.  I couldn’t feel more loved  each and every day!

Mom and Gramcracker, I love you with all my heart and then some!!  Thank you for being such incredible examples for me.  Your strength and courage inspires me everyday!  The unconditional love that you give fills me up inside.  I am the mom that I am today because of the two of you!  Thank you!!

(That’s itty bitty me on the right, snuggled in my mom’s arms, and that’s my mom in her mom’s arms.  It’s evident where my love of animals came from.  It was always one big happy animal family!)

And speaking of amazing women, I thought I’d share a little sneak peek from a recent session with one of my absolute favorite moms.  To know her is to love her… she a total ray of sunshine…  a beauty inside and out…  an AMAZING mom, friend, sister, wife!!  She’s totally rad, super fantastic and awesome all around!!  I could go on and on…

sweet baby boy • tampa newborn photographer

What a perfect little addition to such a sweet family and just in time for Mother’s Day too!  Sweet baby B. is blessed with a big sister who adores him as much as she adores jelly beans and a four-legged brother who thinks he smells sweet as can be.  I had so many favorites from their session–it was hard to choose what to share on the blog.

friday’s feature: mama manifesto

Not too long ago a good friend introduced me to this amazing blog: mama manifesto (thanks Jess!!) and I instantly became addicted!  It’s such a wonderful community of mamas and an incredible resource for almost everything imaginable… from top picks on the best BPA free bottles and sippies to delicious (and easy) recipes to creative crafts.  Oh, and they have great giveaways and contests too!  You’ve got to head on over…

mama_manifesto

I just love this little excerpt from their About Us section, so I thought I’d share (makes me want to go do some push-ups or something):

“We are not doing this project because we have it [motherhood] figured out, or because we are doing it unbelievably well. We are launching the Mama Manifesto because we need tools ourselves and because we recognize that together we are much stronger than we are on our own. We are real moms and we are in the trenches just like you. We are committed to being authentic and sharing our struggles and motherhood journeys. We will be adding nap-sized morsels to this blog daily.

Are you ready to join us? Share your stories and let us laugh with you, cry with you, dream with you. Share your tips, your shortcuts and your recipes. We will be sharing ours.

We are each others’ greatest assets…

p.s. We do not believe that motherhood = hard. We believe that it is a gift to walk this road…and that it can feel like the most wonderful, amazing, eye-opening, joyful, terrifying, beautiful, and challenging thing all at the same time!”
