Ok, so we’re actually not Irish, but I thought it was an appropriate title for St. Patty’s Day and my little story.
My boys and I were driving home when their heated discussion began over Baxter the bunny (my “A’s” stuffed animal). So, this is how it went down…
“A”: You know, “M,” Baxter hopped out of the forest and that’s when Mommy found him.
“M”: “A,” that’s not possible, Baxter is a stuffed animal and stuffed animals don’t talk and they don’t hop and they don’t live in the forest!
“A”: Mommy, “M” doesn’t believe that Baxter hopped out of the forest, tell him that he did.
Me: “A,” if you believe Baxter hopped out of the forest, then that’s what happened and if Matthew doesn’t believe it, that’s ok.
“A”: See, “M,” Baxter did hop out of the forest!
“M”: That’s not what happened, “A.” What probably happened was that it was a really, really windy day and Mommy had her windows down in the car and the wind blew Baxter into Mommy’s car!!
“A”: NO, he hopped out of the forest!!
“M”: NO, it was windy!!!
“A”: He HOPPED!!!
“M”: It was WINDY!!!!
“A”: HE HOPPED!!!!
“M”: NO HE DIDN’T!!!!!
“A” then punches “M” right in the nose (yes, because of his beliefs about Baxter the bunny). Now, we’ve had a few WWF smack down wrestling matches, but never any boxing matches. This was a first! So, I pull over. “A” apologizes and then we have a big talk about people being entitled to their own thoughts, beliefs and opinions, that’s what makes the world so interesting, after all. The whole thing makes me laugh (it probably shouldn’t, but it does). I love that they are so strong willed (even though it’s maddening at times) and despite their connection that is indescribable, they believe what they believe! And, no identical twin brother is going to change that either!
Happy St. Patty’s Day to everyone!! Hopefully the only punch you had today, was Hawaiian Punch! Ha-Ha!!
Now, what would be a post without a picture or two?? So, here are my boys in a happier time at the park…

And, of course, Baxter the Bunny…
